As the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) celebrates the centennial anniversary of its founding in 1926, US Rep. Rick Allen introduced a congressional resolution honoring 100 years of ACI and recognizing the essential role cleaning and the US cleaning products industry play in protecting health, supporting American jobs and manufacturing and helping communities thrive.
“This resolution recognizes not only ACI’s 100-year history, but the enduring value of cleaning in American life and the people and companies who make that possible,” said Jennifer Abril, ACI president and CEO. “As we enter our second century, ACI is focused on a future where cleaning is recognized as essential to healthy living and thriving communities. “That means advancing the science of cleaning, supporting sound public policy, enabling continued innovation and helping ensure that people and institutions have access to the products they rely on every day.
Rep. Allen is a leading member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee and has been a champion for policy issues critical to the cleaning products sector, including by working to ensure that federal regulatory processes reflect the industry’s innovative use of new and existing chemistries in consumer and industrial products.
Rep. Allen’s resolution recognizes the economic contributions of cleaning product manufacturers, suppliers and distributors across all 50 states, including nearly 65,000 Americans employed by the sector and $88 billion in annual economic activity. It also recognizes the everyday value of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting products – from protecting health in homes, schools and healthcare facilities to supporting workplaces, manufacturing operations and the many shared spaces on which communities depend.
“The cleaning products industry provides more than 3,000 jobs and $3.3 billion in economic output in the state of Georgia,” said Allen. “Whether it is a home, business, school, hospital, or other setting, all Americans rely on cleaning products daily. I am proud to recognize the 100th anniversary of the American Cleaning Institute and look forward to its continued success in the years and decades to come.”
